Haley Edwards and Mia Laufer are two juniors from Oshkosh North High School who also serve as co-presidents for the school's Rotary Interact Club. Haley and Mia were excited to take on the dress closet initiative after Sonia's graduation, and their goal is to continue the positive momentum that both Sonia and Laura generated through their hard work and dedication.
Laura Benish, a June 2016 Oshkosh North High School graduate, created and ran the closet as part of her Girl Scout Gold Award project. The closet officially opened in Spring 2014, and during Benish’s tenure, gave out 171 dresses to high school girls so they could attend Prom or Homecoming. Sonia Ochowicz lead the closet after Benish's departure.
In September 2015, Benish converted the closet into a chapter of Becca's Closet to ensure its continuation. Becca's Closet was created to remember Rebecca Kirtman, who died in 2003 in a car accident in Florida. In the spring of her freshman and sophomore year in high school, Becca launched a dress drive and donated over 250 dresses to girls in the South Florida area. Becca's Closet was started to remember her and her passionate work to help others in her community.
